What is SodaStream?

Sodastream is an Israel based company, which went offshore due to it’s massive growth. SodaStream makes carbonating machines as their main product, and offer a lot of customizables within their product, including flavors, differently coloured and different materials bottles, and environment friendly CO2 mini tanks you can fit in your machine.

Sodastream makes quite expensive products due to their environment friendly solutions and their advanced technology, also their excellent design and high quality materials contribute to the cost of the product, which is why SodaStream offers different starter kits which adjust to every client's needs and budgets.

Their machines are equipped with three vital elements: The carbonating tank, the machine and the bottle in which the carbonating happens, this three are very versatile regarding colour, material and design. Also they vary in amount and capacity in the case of the bottle and in the CO2 tanks.  

What does a SodaStream Source Kit include?

This, probably is, the most balanced kit, it includes the SodaStream Source Sparkling Water Maker, a BPA-free reusable carbonating bottle, and a 60 liter CO2 carbonator, the whole kit costs $99.99 USD including shipping. 

Let’s begin by the machine, the Source Sparkling Water Maker, this machine has the ability to turn ordinary tap water into a fun and flavourful fizzy drink, it has a three led fizz indicator to measure the amount of CO2 in your drink, it also has an easy to use snap-lock for the bottle to prevent it from falling, it doesn’t require any kind of electricity, it is powered by a battery, it is also easy to clean and need near to no maintenance, and since it’s plastic it is durable and resistant; this machine is design by Yves Béhar, a recognized designer who has been hired by bigger companies such as Puma and Swarovski, it has an elegant modern and sleek look and since it’s small it could perfectly fit in a kitchen or and office; you can choose between many color or make your very own design, of course, with an extra cost.

The SodaStream Bottle is an excellent way to help your drinks come to life, it is a perfect way to store or drink your beverages, since it has a modern and simple design you can carry it anywhere you go, and it has a special spill proof lock mechanism.

The only thing that the users complain about is the CO2 tanks, since 60 liters of carbon dioxide make 60 liters of sparkling water, you will need to replace it every 60 uses.

The good news is that SodaStream is conscious of this problem and they have solved it in a very environmentally friendly way, it’s called Fizz Concierge Service, this service is an initiative of SodaStream in which if you have 2 or more empty bottles or CO2, and you order 2 more, when those new bottles arrive, if you send back both of the empty containers of CO2 they give you “Frequent Fizzer Points” (+6000 per two bottles, this equals to $30 USD) this electronic currency can be used to buy product or get discounts which, in the long term, helps enormously and helps the company recycle and work better.

Other kits

Other kits are not that balanced in the content and price matter, for example you have the Power kit which costs a whopping $149.99 USD, which may also be worth it because it is a more durable and powerful, yet more power consuming machine, maybe you can get better value for this product if you use this machine at your small business, but for a house, it might be too much of a cost.

You also have the Crystal machine which is pretty much the Source kit but with a very classy spill proof and has a special cap to prevent the fizz from your drink to go away, this glass vase the crystal kit comes with is not compatible with most of the other machines SodaStream offers, which might not be the best price-value ratio you can get, but if you are interested in the design, the Crystal Kit is the product to go with.

Conclusions 

SodaStream is a very innovative company, it has products which match most clients necessities and tastes, if you are a regular customer buying this appliance the Source Kit is the way to go, because it offers the high technology SodaStream is recognized for, it offers compatibility with most of the standard high efficiency CO2 tanks and carbonating bottles and is rather cheap, considering the high costs of the Power and Crystal kit.

Maybe it does not offer that much customizability or access to the more fancy aspects SodaStream has to offer, but if you are looking for a good price-value ratio and efficiency over looks, the Source Kit is what you are looking for.
